City in Silver

1/21/24

I need some place to start doing this stuff, or I'll just never get around to it. So where else to start than the (currently) brand new update, the City in Silver! This update's one that I've been both looking forward to and dreading. When I made my choices to determine the Tracklayers City, I chose not to persue making the city my Discordant double, opting instead for Cornelius and just straight up forgot to bring neathbow boxes to the city-making, meaning I couldn't remove the additional faces from Furnace. After the rush of completing the railway faded, I felt that I had messed up by skipping the Disco-me and as a result, I had gotten stuck with Cornelius, who I really didn't care about. While I was excited for the new release, I was worried that I wouldn't enjoy the story, and that it would revolve around choices that I now regretted.

As it turned out, I certainly didn't have to worry about not enjoying the story. Both mechanically and storywise, I loved the City in Silver. While my previous choices did haunt me somewhat (looking at you, wonderful city-conversation scene), this story was one that was moving forward, not constantly looking back. Learning about the origins of the Creditor, the Cataclysm of Silver, and the Bazaar's newest kids was super interesting, and the more abstract and wider-scale depictions of the city-minds were such a pleasure. By virtue of there being multiple possibilities for the TLC leader, I felt they were fairly underimplemented and really didn't contribute much, which was a shame since I wanted to see more of Furnace after so long. Overall though, I really enjoyed the City in Silver, and thought it was a great conclusion to the railway.
